Assembly Technician / Fabricator

W.W.Williams is a factory distributor of diesel engines and powertrain components, serving customers in a variety of applications including mining, construction, oil and gas, power generation, and industrial.

The assembly technician performs a series of mechanical and electrical assembly operations, to customize diesel engines and components, into a quality, finished product, which meets and exceeds customer requirements and expectations.

Essential functions:

  • Modify and or assemble components to a unit configuration, as required to meet customer specifications.
  • Assemble engine packages from detailed assembly Bill of materials.
  • Ability to read and accurately follow detailed CAD drawings.
  • Fabricate small brackets, as required.
  • Maintain shop equipment and work area.
  • Perform completed unit testing as required to meet factory and customer requirements.
  • Complete assembly and test reports completely and correctly, as required.
  • Other duties as assigned


  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Technical school graduate preferred.
  • Familiarization with diesel engines.
  • Working knowledge of blueprints and wiring diagrams.
  • Above average written and verbal communication skills.
  • Internal drive to achieve the highest degree of customer service and support.
  • An ever present attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane.
  • Prior welding experience with MIG and TIG welders.
  • Must have own hand tools.

Physical and environmental Elements:

  • Workshop/Warehouse environment working with and around shop equipment including saws, drill presses, welders, forklifts and cranes to lift and move heavy items.
  • Working around chemicals such as solvents, oils, sealants and paint.
  • Working around workshop noise, such as running engines, compressed air, air tools, and other equipment.

Candidate must meet all eligibility requirements to drive a company service vehicle, including but not limited to:

  • Must have a current, valid driver's license, issued by the state in which they reside.
  • Candidate must be able to pass DOT physical, pre and post - employment drug testing, and meet all physical requirements for the position.
