Application Engineer (CHP):        

W.W.Williams is seeking an experienced Application Engineer with Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Experience.  The Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Application Engineer works to support Field Sales in developing a total Balance of Plant (BOP) solution for industrial and commercial cogeneration applications with MTU Onsite Energy continuous gas gensets.

  • Provides support to sales, as required, to develop and book extended scope project opportunities.
  • Develops detailed and firm technical proposals with Field Sales for gensets and/or other component and engineering requirements to be used in developing a formal quote for customer.
  • Attends project meetings and works with end-users, customers, engineers, project managers, vendors and contractors to provide assistance, support and design as needed.
  • Reviews equipment specifications, performance requirements, costs analysis and proposal for generator and BOP machinery and equipment to determine the genset and/or other components are appropriate for the application.
  • Provides detailed documentation of application of gensets, digestors, scrubbers, after-treatment, maintenance, and other BOP machinery and equipment, including definition of application, and operational procedures and sequence of operations.
  • Customizes factory CAD drawings and creates CAD drawings as needed.
  • Develops specifications for issuance to sub-suppliers.
  • Interfaces with suppliers for scope and technical definitions. Negotiates price, terms, and conditions with suppliers.
  • Confers with customers' personnel to implement operating procedures and resolve system malfunctions.
  • Develops and conducts training programs on the safe operation of the equipment, and demonstrates skills to trainees, including both team members and customers.
  • Determines parts supply, maintenance tasks, safety procedures, and service schedule required, as it relates to the applied genset and/or other component, to maintain machines and equipment in prescribed condition.
  • Visits sites to assess end-users requirements, and assists in installation to ensure generator package and additional BOP are installed properly and functioning as designed.
  • Monitors technician performance on site and provides technical support for installation, communications, start-up and customer training.
  • Confers with workers in other departments, such as marketing, legal, and sales, to provide technical information.
  • Helps develop W.W. Williams infrastructure to support BOP growth, including supplier identification and qualification, documentation, training programs and external partner development.
  • Develops uniform tools and processes for quoting and selling BOP in our AOR.
  • Develops uniform risk assessment and risk management strategies.
  • Participates in meetings, seminars and training sessions to stay informed of new development in the field. Attends factory events and training, customer meetings and site visits.
  • Coordinates presale demonstrations and trade show exhibitions including procurement of equipment, set-up, demonstration, and discussion with potential customers.
