Benefits Specialist Opportunity Summary:
Benefits Specialist is responsible for administering various employee benefit plans (Life, Health, Dental, and Disability insurance), and pension plans, and will act as the liaison between the vendors and the employees.
Job Duties:
- Generate Plan design and implementation of benefit programs with the assistance of a Broker to include: Health, Dental, Vision, Wellness Programs, Voluntary Products, Retirement, and other related programs/products.
- Development of the communication strategy for benefit plans and programs, including wellness.
- Review plan documents for all benefits and possible renewal or change in providers.
- Initiate system configuration in HRIS and implementation of annual Open Enrollment process.
- Conduct bi-weekly new hire benefit webinars.
- Act as liaison between benefit vendor/providers and the Company.
- Design and create a monthly newsletter for benefits.
- Invoice review and reconciliation for all benefit products.
- Partner with the payroll team to reconcile benefit-related issues (e.g., 401k contributions, Wellness credits, benefit premiums).
- Oversee the database maintenance of the HRIS system, as it relates to benefits, as well as other benefit-related vendor systems.
- Regular auditing of HRIS system benefit set-ups and file feeds.
- Approving life events and new hire enrollments within the HRIS system.
- Reviews and approves Hardship distributions from a 401k plan.
- Management of any COVID processes as it relates to benefits (e.g., vaccination card tracking, UHC Covid Report review, and distribution).
- Complete the weekly funding report and distribute it to the Finance team.
- Partner with HR Coordinators to track compliance calendar deadlines.
- Serve as a backup for the leave of absence process.
- Communicating with, and educating, existing and new employees on benefit plans.
- Staying up to date about Federal and State guidelines and making recommendations for policy updates based on the guidelines.
Work Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with a degree in a Human Resources professional designation; or 5 to 8 years related experience and/or training, preferably with a certification in an HR or Benefits related area; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong working knowledge of benefit terminology (medical, dental, vision, life, voluntary products, disability, FMLA, ADA, 401(k), COBRA)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
